On August 30, 2021, Community Partners International (CPI) representative Ms. Anam A. Ali met with Dr. Arif Alvi, President of Pakistan, to present oxygen concentrators and brief the President on CPI’s charitable activities to support Pakistan’s COVID-19 response. At the briefing, which was also attended by CPI partners SHINE Humanity and the Patients’ Aid Foundation, Ms. Ali confirmed CPI’s donation of a further 50 oxygen concentrators, in addition to the 50 already delivered to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center in Karachi earlier in August. The President confirmed that the 50 additional concentrators would also be designated for use at health facilities in Karachi. Ms. Ali and colleagues demonstrated how oxygen concentrators draw in ambient air and concentrate the oxygen which is then delivered to the patient via a nasal tube or face mask. Portable, and needing only an electricity supply to operate, oxygen concentrators are a flexible addition to oxygen therapy offered in health facilities and can also be provided to recovering COVID-19 patients for use at home where appropriate to reduce pressure on hospital beds. Ms. Ali also presented CPI’s wider strategy for COVID-19 response in Pakistan and elsewhere in South and Southeast Asia.
President Dr. Arif Alvi thanked CPI and SHINE Humanity for their contribution to Pakistan’s COVID-19 response. Comments are closed.
