Kalsang Tashi
Director of Strategic Partnerships
Kalsang grew up in a Tibetan refugee camp in northern India. A generous philanthropic scholarship landed her at an international high school in India and further to the US to study economics, and peace & conflict resolution studies at Brandeis University.
Kalsang is drawn to Community Partners International's commitment to drive change in the most challenging of places in Asia. In her role as Director of Strategic Partnerships, Kalsang works closely with CPI's Development Board to raise CPI's profile in the US and design meaningful ways to keep donors engaged as well as usher in new support. Prior to CPI, she spent about a decade at Give2Asia stewarding individual donors, corporations and private foundations with their philanthropic giving across Asia. During those years, she developed a strong desire to find ways to drive resources to disadvantaged communities in Asia getting the least donor attention.
Kalsang is happy to have played an active role in the establishment of a Tibetan community center in the Bay Area. The center plays a vital role in preserving Tibetan language and culture. Kalsang currently serves on the Board of Refugee and Immigrant Transitions, a San Francisco based non-profit agency that provides free education, family engagement and community leadership programs to refugees and low income immigrants.
