 Construction underway on the new CPI-Green Hill health post in Kutupalong Refugee Camp, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. (CPI) In late August, Community Partners International (CPI) and local partner Green Hill broke ground on a new health post in Camp 1W of Kutupalong Refugee Camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Scheduled to open by the end of October, the health post will offer free primary health care services to Rohingya refugees and Bangladeshi host communities in the surrounding area. CPI-Green Hill Program Director Md. Abul Bashar elaborated on the services provided by the health post. “The health post will provide a wide range of services including general outpatient care, non-communicable disease prevention and care, prenatal and postnatal care, safe birth referrals, family planning, gender-based violence prevention and care, immunization, oral rehydration therapy, a general pharmacy, and basic laboratory facilities,” he confirmed. “We expect to be able to serve at least 100 patients each day. As well as clinical care, the health post outreach team will provide health education to the surrounding community to improve general health and hygiene.”  The site of the new CPI-Green Hill health post in Kutupalong Refugee Camp, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. (CPI) Habib Ullah, who supervises CPI-Green Hill’s Rohingya community health volunteers in Kutupalong Refugee Camp, emphasized the need for the health post. “There are no nearby health facilities in this catchment area. Community members have to go far away. This is especially difficult when there are health emergencies. When this health post opens, they won’t have to travel so far and we can make sure that they receive quality care.” He also highlighted the importance of the health post for pregnant women and newborns. “The staff at the health post will provide prenatal and postnatal care checkups, family planning, and other sexual and reproductive health services. Abul Bashar also explained the contribution that the health post will make to the COVID-19 response. “We will provide care and referral services for people with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 at the facility. The immunization department at the health post will also provide information to community members on the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.” “The health post will help the Government of Bangladesh and other local health providers to meet the essential health care needs of both host and refugee communities,” he added. “Over time, we plan to expand the range of services that the health post offers and establish more health facilities in Cox’s Bazar.”  The new CPI-Green Hill health post begins to emerge from the ground in Kutupalong Refugee Camp, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
