Dr. Khaing Thandar Hnin
Director - Strategy, Technical, Policy and Research Unit
Dr. Khaing Thandar Hnin joined Community Partners International (CPI) in early 2019 to head up the organization's Strategy and Technical Unit. Prior to joining CPI, Dr. Thandar worked for Médecins du Monde as Country Medical Coordinator where she was a focal person for technical support, quality management and improvement of the organization. Dr. Thandar started her career in the humanitarian sector in 2008 as a medical doctor providing care to key populations affected by HIV/AIDS in Myanmar. After witnessing the critical health care needs in Myanmar she decided to continue her career in public health. She worked with Médecins du Monde, Save the Children, and the Australian Embassy in the areas of HIV/TB prevention, care, treatment and support, harm reduction for key populations, primary health care, and maternal and child health.
Dr. Thandar's experience encompasses program implementation, quality programming, monitoring and evaluation, fund management, strategy and technical support. Dr. Thandar is a medical graduate from the University of Medicine 2, Yangon, Myanmar. She obtained her Master of Public Health Degree from University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2014, supported by the Australia Award scholarship from the Australian Government.
